gDimScreen Help
gDimScreen is a screen dimmer Windows 8/10.
Since version 8 of Windows, it is not possible to darken the screen automatically after a certain period of inactivity, at least in family version. gDimScreen reduces screen illumination while allowing you to see what is happening. gDimScreen can be launched automatically at Windows startup (default behavior) or manually.
Once in use, it shows an icon in the taskbar, in the notification area. Right-clicking on this icon brings up a menu as described below.
Set Delay
Allows you to set the idle time before gDimScreen darkens the screen. This time is adjustable between 10 and 3600 seconds (60 minutes).
Set Opacity
Adjusts the darkness level between moderate (100) and completely black (255). A value of 200 (by default) darkens the screen considerably while allowing to see what happens there.
Dim Now
Darkens the screen immediately without waiting for the idle timeout. Convenient to test the opacity level setting.
Start Automatically
Launches gDimScreen at system startup so it will always be in function.
Check for Update at Startup
If this option is enabled, gDimScreen can check if there is an update available when it is launched and, if so, proposes to install it.
Check for Update Now
Immediately checks if there is an upgrade available and, if so, proposes to install it.
