Objects
gPage uses the concept of objects to represent the different shapes in your drawing. Each object is independent and can be modified without affecting other objects on the page. Futhermore, each object knows which modifications are possibles for itself, and shows you a context menu when you click the right mouse button upon it.
Those are the available objects in gPage:
Text
This is text on one or more lines. You can choose the font and place it at different angles.
Line
This is a simple line. You can choose the color, width, type of line, etc.
Multiline
Like the simple line, but you can have multiple segments that will be treated as a whole.
Rounded Multiline
Lke the Multiline object, but the points are not the ends of straight lines, but rather anchors for a sequence of bezier curves.
Rectangle and Rounded Rectangle
This is a simple rectangle. It can be sized and placed at any angle. You can choose the border color and the background color which can be transparent.
In fact, a Rounded Rectangle is the same as a Rectangle, but it's corners are rounded by default. This is only for convenience and compatibility with the previous version of gPage. Once on the page, both are Rectangle objects.
Circle
This object is the base for different shapes: circle, ellipse, pie, chord or arc. Put a circle on the page, then modify it to another shape afterwards.
Image
File types supported are: JPEG, PNG, GIF, PCX, ICO, TIFF and BMP.
Image files can be quite big so gPage does not store image data in it's own drawing files, only the file name is stored in those files (files with ".pa1" extension). Whenever gPage needs to draw the image, the information is fetched directly from the image file. This way, no duplication of those image files occurs. There is a drawback though. If you copy a drawing file from a computer to another one, you must manually copy all images referenced in the drawing.
When exporting drawings to JPG, GIF or PNG format, images are automatically included.
You can obtain a list of the files linked to your document using the menu command File + Show Linked Files.
Bezier
This is a three-point bezier.
Polygon, Rounded Polygon
The Polygon object is a closed figure drawn with straight line segments. Like the rounded multiline, the Rounded Polygon uses curves rather than straight lines. But once on the page, both are the same type of object and you can choose between rounded and straight lines.
Regular Polygon
The Regular Polygon object is a closed figure drawn with straight line segments of equal length.
Sinusoid
This is a representation of a sine wave.
Symbol
A symbol object is a copy of a group of objects you intend to use repetitively. To place a symbol on the page, it must have been created first. See the Symbols page to learn what is a symbol and how to create one.
Dimension
A Dimension object is a double arrow width it's length written over. The length is automatically calculated and shown in units you have already chosen.
Arrow
Arrows are used in flow charts or in technical presentations for example.
Freehand Line
This is a line that can be traced (almost) freely. In fact, to obtain a more regular line, not every movement is taken into account. They are rather smoothed while tracing the line.
Current Time
The value of the Current time object will be the time at witch the document is printed or otherwise drawn. The time is not continously updated, but refreshed when redrawn.
Current Date
The value of the Current date object will be the date at witch the document is printed or otherwise drawn. The date is not continously updated, but refreshed when redrawn.
Document Name
This object will print the name of the document. This is convenient to retrace the original document of a printed version.
